Hiking Information
Basic Info:
This multi-use non-motorized recreational rail-trail runs through Pittsburgh (Allegheny County). It will ultimately extend 47 miles from Coraopolis to Clairton. Currently, multiple sections of the trail totaling about 30 miles are complete. There are 17 miles complete from Groveton to McDonald. You'll find a 6 mile trail in Cecil Township, Washington County. Arrowhead Trail in Peters Twp. is made up of 3.5 miles. More than two miles are complete in Bethel Park, plus over a mile in South Park and additional mileage in Jefferson Boro. New sections are being added each year.

Trails:
The trail is paved with a smooth surface of crushed limestone making it good for bicycling, walking, running, cross-country skiing, and nature appreciation.

The portion of the trail within Peters Township is called The Arrowhead Trail.

The Panhandle Trail stretches 29 miles between Carnegie, PA, and Weirton, WV.

Other Items Offered:
Horseback riding is permitted on certain section, but not on the improved trail surface.
